Before his name appeared on cigar bands, Erik Espinosa spent years traveling Florida as an independent cigar sales representative during the cigar boom of the late 1990s. Representing respected manufacturers and learning the business one retailer at a time, he developed an understanding of what cigar smokers valued most: consistent quality, honest craftsmanship, and relationships built on trust.

After entering the premium cigar business in 1997, Espinosa experienced both success and setbacks. Early partnerships introduced him to some of Nicaragua's most influential cigar makers, including the Garcia family before they became the powerhouse behind My Father Cigars. Determined to build something of his own, he eventually established the La Zona factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, where he worked to recreate and refine his blends despite the challenges of sourcing premium tobacco and competing with much larger manufacturers.

That persistence became the foundation of Espinosa Cigars. Rather than chasing mass production, the company focused on handcrafted premium cigars made with carefully selected tobaccos and traditional techniques. Over the years, Espinosa has earned a reputation for producing blends that deliver exceptional flavor, dependable construction, and outstanding value. 

Today, Espinosa Cigars produces millions of premium cigars annually, yet the company's philosophy remains unchanged. Erik Espinosa continues to spend much of his time visiting cigar shops, meeting customers, and supporting retailers while believing that great cigars are built as much on relationships as they are on tobacco.
